Review: Table Manners

Table Manners is one of my favourite restaurants for lunch when I feel like indulging in good food without spending too much. I first stumbled upon them last year when Mr M and I were shopping at Changi City Point and hunting for a restaurant to try. We looked at the shop directory and the name Table Manners immediately caught our attention. We walked over and the quirky, modern decor sealed the deal. We were then pleasantly surprised when we found out that their lunch sets were an extremely good deal and that the food was excellent too!

Let me explain how their lunch sets work first – there are four different types of lunch sets, with various combinations of proteins and fibers (I see it as veggies vs meat, but it could also be like appetisers vs entrees). Mr M and I would always opt for Set D (the most expensive because it has 2 proteins + 2 fibers, compared to set A which is 3 fibers) because we love meat and we love variety. Then, we get to choose what we want from their extensive range of proteins and fibers. I LOVED the beef stroganoff, but they’ve since taken it off the menu. Sigh.

This time, we returned to find that they had revised their prices upwards. We kept our fingers crossed that the food still tasted good enough to justify the price increase!

First up, my clam chowder. Yummy! Lovely, creamy, goodness.

Next, Mr M’s set with broccoli, caesar salad, cajun chicken leg and southern fried chicken. His verdict: All good.

My set: truffle fries, butter mashed potatoes, grilled salmon, and striploin steak.

The truffle fries were delish – crispy, with a hint of truffle oil, just the way I like it. The butter mash was fab too! Creamy!

The salmon was decent, but a little dry, and certainly paled in comparison to the juicy, melt-in-your-mouth salmon I had at Little Diner.

The steak was decent, done medium rare as I’d requested.

Finally, pandan panna cotta for dessert! I loved it but Mr M hated it because the pandan flavour was too overpowering for him. Don’t mind him.

Overall, the food was good, but with the increased prices, the lunch sets are no longer a steal. We paid around $60 for our meal, including one drink.
